What is KVPY?
KVPY stands for Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana. It is a national-level scholarship program initiated by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. The program aims to encourage students who are interested in pursuing a career in science and research by providing them with financial assistance and other benefits.
The KVPY program was started in 1999 by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) of the Government of India. Every year IISC was conducting aptitude tests to select candidates for KVPY Scholarships. But in 2022, the KVPY was merged with the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) program.
The INSPIRE program is a larger initiative that aims to promote science education and research in India. The merger of KVPY with INSPIRE is expected to benefit students in a number of ways. First, it will reduce the stress on students of having to take another competitive exam. Second, it will make it easier for students to access scholarships and other support for pursuing research careers. Third, it will help to increase the number of students who are interested in science and research.
The merger of KVPY with INSPIRE is a positive step that will help to strengthen the science and research ecosystem in India. It is expected to benefit students, institutions, and the country as a whole.
